A Benchmark in Conservative Dentistry in Spain
Thanks to conservative dentistry, we are able to treat teeth affected by cavities, wear, trauma, or malformations without the need to replace them with implants, while also restoring their functionality with the appropriate treatment.
The goal is, therefore, to save and preserve a damaged or diseased tooth in the mouth by treating it in the least invasive way possible.

iTero TimeLapse Technology
iTero TimeLapse Technology is a powerful tool that allows us to compare the evolution of both the anatomy and position of teeth and gums. After performing an iTero photographic scan, we can compare it with scans taken in previous years and detect premature wear, gum recession, movements, or positional changes in dental pieces, etc.
Occlusal splints and sports splints (Playsafe) offer absolute precision thanks to digital impression or milling, which is done by performing a 3D intraoral scan in the office.

Painless Dentistry
At Smiling Dental Center, we use conscious sedation to perform conservative dentistry surgical interventions in Madrid.
By using conscious sedation, we provide the possibility for all our patients to undergo any of our dental treatments with great comfort, tranquility, and safety. We also facilitate patient recovery and completely eliminate stress, dental phobia, or fear of the dentist or pain, which some patients manifest.
Conscious sedation can be requested for any dental treatment and involves administering the appropriate dose of a combination of a sedative and an anesthetic to block pain.
While the effects last, the patient is accompanied at all times by our anesthesiologist.

When are dental inlays indicated?
- When a large cavity or fracture occurs: Inlays are ideal for restoring teeth that have been significantly damaged due to caries or fractures.
- When the tooth has been damaged and the structure’s walls are weakened after a root canal: Inlays are also used when a tooth has undergone endodontic treatment and needs additional support and restoration.
- When large old fillings, such as amalgams or metal fillings, are removed: Inlays can replace these outdated fillings, providing a more aesthetic and durable restoration.
How do we perform dental inlays?
The placement of dental inlays is carried out in two appointments at our dental clinic in Madrid:
- First Visit: The damaged part of the tooth is removed, and we take precise measurements and impressions using a scanner. The inlays must fit perfectly to the size and shape of each patient’s teeth to ensure there are no issues with dislodging.
- Second Visit: The inlay is carefully placed onto the affected tooth, ensuring it fits perfectly and guaranteeing the patient’s comfort.
The Importance of Occlusal Splints
Day-to-day life, problems, family, work, and a thousand other reasons can cause a considerable increase in tension, anxiety, and stress. Our brain uses several pathways to manifest this. One of them is that at night we start to clench or grind our teeth, and sometimes we even do it during the day. In this situation, a night guard becomes essential.
If you are aware that you grind your teeth, clench, or wake up with jaw pain, hear clicks when chewing, start having headaches, neck pain, gum recession, or erosions on the upper part of your teeth, it might be time to visit your dentist to assess whether the solution is to start using a night guard.
Involuntary teeth clenching can cause:
- Dental wear
- Neck and head pain
- Jaw pain
- Microfractures in the enamel of teeth near the gum line. Later, when brushing, this enamel is removed, causing further erosion of the teeth.
Playsafe Sports Mouthguards or Splints
The best sports mouthguard or protector.
Athletes demand them not only to protect their teeth but also to enhance their performance by distributing the forces of the bite evenly between the upper and lower arches.
It is made with multiple layers and a protective edge (mouth shield) that prevents excessive movement of the lower jaw in case of lateral impacts.
Instead of taking traditional impressions with alginates, we scan the patient with a 3D digital scanner. This allows for a precise fit, enabling the opposite jaw to move, as well as breathing freely and speaking normally without the need to constantly clench the teeth.
Intensive resistance tests show the high protective effect of the Playsafe sports mouthguards. These tests include deformation resistance and a pendulum test to measure the absorption and distribution of impact forces.
On the other hand, Boil & Bite mouthguards do not fit well and loosen over time. The athlete must constantly hold the mouthguard with their teeth, preventing them from achieving optimal performance.
iTero TimeLapse Technology
As the quality of images obtained with intraoral scanners improves, new diagnostic tools emerge.
iTero TimeLapse has been incorporated into our clinic for several years. The utility of this software allows us to compare two intraoral scans taken at different times.
In this comparison, we can detect and the patient can see if the following have occurred:
- Movement or shifting of teeth
- Premature wear
- Gum recession
- Etc.
